Really good. Highly recommend.

Kirsten P.

The tent arrived on time and came with the stakes and footprint included. Overall quality looks good, and the total weight is under 3.5 lbs. I think the balance of price, weight, and quality is excellent. It is quite compact, though. I'm 5'8" (173 cm) and 163 lbs (74 kg), and while I fit comfortably, space becomes limited if you're storing a large 70L backpack inside. For a lightweight solo backpacking tent, however, it works very well.

David B.

Excellent tent with outstanding build quality. My gray 20D version weighs just 1495 g including all accessories.

Great quality tent. Easy to pack away, exactly as described, and arrived fast. Highly recommend.

Riley C.

Haven't camped in it yet, but I did a test setup in the backyard. The quality looks great, setup was easy, and it's impressively lightweight.

Awesome tent. Super easy to set up and the materials feel really solid.

Lightweight, versatile, and incredibly easy to set up. Ventilation is excellent, the aluminum poles and stakes feel very durable. The vestibule provides plenty of room for a large backpack. Great tent overall.

Used it on a recent camping trip and was genuinely impressed. The build quality is excellent, it packs down small, and setup takes just a couple of minutes. Haven't had a chance to put it through a serious rainstorm yet, but everything about it feels well designed and trail-ready.

Amber J.

I've been using the Cloud Up for years on multi-day trekking trips across Colorado, Iceland, Italy, and Canada. It's lightweight, durable, and incredibly reliable. Even during heavy rainstorms, it keeps me dry and comfortable. One of the best backpacking tents I've owned.

Thomas T.

Tested it in rainy conditions and it held up very well. Even though some water pooled beneath the footprint, the interior remained dry and comfortable. The materials are lightweight, setup is simple, and the freestanding design makes pitching the tent almost anywhere incredibly convenient.

Claire J.

Excellent quality and exactly as described. Fast shipping, great value, and better than expected. Highly recommended.

IS THERE A WARRANTY?

At New Valberg, your gear is built to last. We provide a 2-year warranty on our hiking tents, covering manufacturing defects and material failures to ensure you can explore the wilderness with total confidence.

What is Covered (Manufacturing Defects):
Structural Integrity: Any abnormal snapping, cracking, or failure of structural components (such as grommets, corner reinforcements, or pole attachment points) under normal, recommended use.

Seams & Stitching: Failure of factory-sewn seams, including tie-out loops, guyline attachments, and zipper tracks.

Hardware & Components: Malfunctions of zippers, door toggles, buckles, and tensioners that occur due to production flaws.

Material Integrity: Premature delamination of waterproof coatings or fabric weave failures (on the rainfly or bathtub floor) not caused by external abrasion.

What is Not Covered:
Natural Wear and Tear: Gradual fading of colors from UV exposure, minor abrasions from standard trail use, or the natural breakdown of materials over extended years of service.

Accidental & Environmental Damage: Tears, punctures, or burns caused by sharp rocks, thorns, high alpine winds exceeding limits, campfires, embers, or animal encounters.

Improper Pitching & Over-tensioning: Damage resulting from incorrect setup, over-tightening guylines, or forcing zippers under extreme tension.

Improper Maintenance & Storage: Fabric degradation or delamination caused by machine washing, harsh chemical detergents, or storing the tent while damp (which leads to mold, mildew, and coating failure).

Modifications: Any structural alterations made to the tent shell or mesh.

IS THE CLOUD UP 1P RIGHT FOR ME?

The Cloud Up 1P is ideal for backpackers, hikers, bikepackers looking for the perfect balance of low weight, weather protection, and packability. If you want a lightweight freestanding tent that's quick to set up and easy to carry on multi-day adventures, the Cloud Up 1P is an excellent choice.
If you're over 6'2" (188 cm), prefer a 2P tent.

Choose the Cloud Up 1P if you:

  • Hike, trek, or backpack solo
  • Want to keep your pack weight low
  • Need reliable rain and wind protection
  • Prefer a freestanding tent for easy pitching
  • Value compact packed size for travel and adventures

CAN I FIT MY BACKPACK INSIDE THE TENT?

Yes. Most hikers can comfortably store their backpack in the front vestibule, keeping gear protected from rain while preserving interior sleeping space. Smaller packs may also fit inside the tent alongside the sleeper.

IS THE CLOUD UP 1P A TRUE FREESTANDING TENT?

Yes. The Cloud Up 1P can stand on its own using the aluminum pole structure alone, making it easy to pitch on rocky ground, wooden platforms, or other surfaces where staking is difficult. Stakes are still recommended for maximum stability and vestibule setup.

WHAT IS 20D RIPSTOP NYLON?

20D ripstop nylon is the secret behind the Cloud Up's impressive strength-to-weight ratio. Specially reinforced to resist tearing, this premium fabric remains exceptionally light, helping reduce pack weight without compromising durability. Combined with a waterproof coating, it delivers reliable protection from the elements while staying compact enough for any adventure.

DOES THE TENT PERFORM WELL IN RAIN AND WIND?

Yes. The Cloud Up 1P is designed to handle typical backpacking conditions, including heavy rain and winds. Its 20D ripstop nylon rainfly features a 4000 mm waterproof coating, while the freestanding structure and aluminum pole system provide reliable stability in changing weather.

HOW SMALL DOES THE TENT PACK DOWN?

The Cloud Up 1P packs down to approximately 17.7 × 4.7 in (45 × 12 cm), making it easy to fit inside or attach to a backpack without taking up valuable space.

HOW DOES THE CLOUD UP REDUCE CONDENSATION?

The Cloud Up's smart double-wall design separates the breathable inner tent from the waterproof rainfly, creating continuous airflow throughout the shelter. Combined with integrated ventilation, this helps reduce moisture buildup and keeps the interior drier and more comfortable throughout the night. For the best results, keep vents open whenever possible and avoid bringing wet gear inside the tent.

ARE THE INCLUDED STAKES ENOUGH?

Yes. The Cloud Up 1P comes with 12 lightweight aluminum stakes and 3 guy lines, providing everything needed for a secure setup in typical backpacking and camping conditions.

For maximum stability in strong winds, we recommend using all stake-out points and guy lines. Some experienced backpackers may choose to carry a few extra stakes for soft sand, snow, or particularly challenging terrain, but no additional stakes are required for normal use.

DO I NEED A FOOTPRINT?

A footprint isn't required, but it's highly recommended to help protect your tent floor from abrasion, sharp rocks, moisture, and everyday wear. The good news? Every Cloud Up 1P already includes a custom-fit footprint at no extra cost, so you're ready to camp right out of the box.
